United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)

All youth group (UMYF) activities are open to youth in 6-12th grades.

Description

Youth Group picture, spring 2015A Sunday evening opportunity for youth fellowship, service, mission, and community. UMYF begins with a snack supper, followed by programming and games that allow the youth to build friendships, learn about their faith and serve others. Northaven’s youth group is a combination of junior and senior high students that allows for peer-mentorship.
The youth group participates in monthly service projects; sometimes at Northaven and sometimes in the community. An annual favorite is the Feed My Starving Children project. We also served dinner for Project Transformation, have helped at Jack Lowe Elementary school, North Dallas Shared Ministires and marched in the Alan Ross Freedom Parade!
The youth also help with the Advent Family Festival, Easter Eggstravaganza, Trunk or Treat and the Co-op Fall Carnival.

Youth group leading worship, May 2015

In the spring the youth lead the worship service at 11:00 a.m. The new confirmands are encouraged to join the youth in leading the congregation and we also recognize our graduating seniors on this special day. Youth Sunday is an annual tradition is a favorite of the youth group!

During the year the UMYF hosts the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner just before the beginning of Lent.
